Let’s hear it for the newcomer! My name is Takiya Jones and I am here to bring a fresh perspective to CollegeFashionista, and I am more excited than ever to do so. Traveling to new places for greater opportunities was the norm growing up. I have finally settled down in the great city of Austin, Texas, finishing my senior year studying Fashion and Retail Management at the Art Institute of Austin. Being an army brat has opened my eyes to many different styles and cultures to say the least, and has found its way into my personal style. Flirty skirts and kate spade are my motto. My style is a mix of classic and flirty, yet edgy and chic. With black currently being my go-to color I still keep it fun with bold prints and statement jewelry.
I was not one of those people who knew which path to take in life since they were little, it actually took me until my first year of college to realize fashion was what sparked my fire and now I cannot get enough. Trend forecasting is what excites me most and an aspect of that is capturing street style, which explains my excitement of joining the CF team.
I will be a Style Guru writer for LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS this semester and I am anxious to see the unpredictable, unorthodox styles I will find on campus and throughout the city each week. Although I have seen much diversity, I have yet to experience one like that of “ATX.” The style and city itself is so relaxed and carefree. The live music inspires this city in a great way, giving people another place to show off their styles. I have never encountered such an environment. Men’s style is under appreciated in my opinion therefore; I am thrilled to highlight this part of fashion in my posts. This along with posts on art, music and cultural diversity in Austin can be found on my blog “Takiya Says…” Continue following my journey and be inspired to inspire.
