STYLE GURU BIO: Tabi Hoshmand

Hello, my lovely Fashionista/os! My name is Tabassum Hoshmand, for the brave who take their chance on pronouncing that, but Tabi for short (I know, much better). I am currently a first year at San Diego State University studying Communications. More excitingly, this is my first semester with the CollegeFashionista team and I could not be more thrilled.

Initially, a career in fashion was not always on my mind, but a career as a journalist was. When I was younger, I would spend weeks and months trying to write one of my own novels. Currently, I write for The Daily Aztec at SDSU to satisfy my writing needs, but I have always been the type to keep a leather-bound journal around, marking down any inspiration that comes to mind.

My Fashionista self has evolved over the years, as I have realized that fashion leaves me more confident in myself than ever. I dream of writing for Vogue because I have been in awe by the magazine ever since I was little. My style incorporates three things: simplicity, sassiness and statement necklaces. My outfit pictured features the love I have for plaid and the belief that any outfit can be transformed with the perfect accessory. In my wardrobe you will find all things black and shoes galore. Although, I love finding pieces that are unique to spice things up.

I’ve found that for me, fashion is a perfect place for expression and that dressing well means feeling well. Now combine the two passions of mine and here we are, a Style Guru Intern. I don’t find anything more fitting for me than writing for fashion, a field that constantly keeps me on my toes and opens a world of personality through pieces of clothing.

I am excited to be on the lookout for unique outfits around campus and to capture them here for all of you. I hope to inspire others to take risks in their daily outfit choices because believe me, it does not go unnoticed. Be sure to check back here every Wednesday to see what SDSU’s Fashionistas/os have to offer.
