STYLE GURU BIO: Sydney Sturm

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! What a crazy summer it has been, I can’t believe it’s already over and that fall is here! I’ve loved being a Style Guru for the past few months. I couldn’t be happier that I decided to apply way back in March and I’m so excited to do it all over again this semester.

Over the past few months, I’ve been able to meet so many wonderful fashionable people, as well as explore lots of new trends in the world of fashion. Being a Style Guru has definitely expanded my knowledge when it comes to fashion, and I’ve started paying a lot more attention to runway fashion than I ever had before. It’s been so fun watching the latest looks that designers are creating, and then translating them into my own style. On top of all the runway shows, I’ve received tons of street style inspiration from all you fashionable people out there that I’ve met on campus!

With all this amazing inspiration, I’ve been experimenting a lot with my own wardrobe lately, and I think that it’s helped me discover what kinds of things I really feel good wearing. Some of my favorite go-to articles of clothing that I own include: my boyfriend jeans, oversized button-ups and T-shirt dresses. I know I can throw on any of these pieces with some accessories and feel both comfortable and stylish. I’ve also found that I love shopping at thrift and vintage stores and finding unique pieces to pair with some of my more basic clothing. I’m definitely a fan of mixing these old pieces with new ones to create a more modern, updated look (and if you’ve read any of my previous articles you probably already know that). Plus, on a student budget, thrift shopping is something that my bank account enjoys as well.

Overall, being a Style Guru this summer has been an awesome experience, which is why I’m so excited to see what the new semester brings! Fall is my favorite season for fashion, so I can’t wait to see everyone back on campus sporting their fabulous new fall looks, and then be able to share them all with you again.
