STYLE GURU BIO: Sydney Branon

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Sydney Branon, and I’m currently a senior at Appalachian State University majoring in apparel design and merchandising with a minor in marketing. All of my life I’ve lived in a small town in the middle of nowhere, but I’m excited to announce that I’ll be moving to New York City after graduation! This will be a big transition for me, but life is all about chasing your dreams and taking chances, right?

I guess I could say that I do have a moment when I fell in love with fashion. When I was little I used to have a fashion sketchbook that I would always mess around with and creating new outfits. I do believe that it’s grown more naturally too. I was always the one wanting to dress up for school and to make sure I was trendy as possible.

I’m constantly strolling through Pinterest and Instagram for aspiring fashion. I believe a person’s style reflects their attitude and personality. As time has passed, fashion has become less about quantity and more about quality. My closet includes a variety of clothing, but I would consider my style to be very classic. One day I could be rocking my black leather jacket and black jeans. The next day, I could be wearing my pearls and Patagonia vest. I believe that shoes make a whole outfit, so I have countless shoes. I have a new obsession with collecting Alex and Ani bracelets, which I am wearing in my photo.

One of my favorite quotes is from Oscar Wilde, and he says, “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” I believe highly in this quote because it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed, and overeducated; there is always new things to learn everyday. My goal for this internship is to encourage everyone to be confident about wearing what you want that reflects your style. Fashion is art and inspiration and style is what you make out of it. I’m thrilled to be starting my first semester as a Style Guru!
