STYLE GURU BIO: Milena Sebuktekin

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Hey there Fashionistas! If you’re reading this article then chances are you love fashion as much as I do, so welcome!  My name is Milena Sebuktekin and I’m from Jackson, Mississippi. I am currently a junior studying at the University of Mississippi. I am double majoring in Business Management and Marketing & Corporate Relations. If you’re wondering about my “different” name, it’s because I am half Hispanic and half Turkish. My background is something that I take pride in and sometimes, it can even emerge into my style a little bit. My dream one day is to pursue fashion PR and to open a business of mine with my own line.  I decided to apply to CollegeFashionista because fashion is my passion and I wanted to be able to share my own style with others. That’s the thing I love about fashion—that everyone has their own unique style and that it shows their personality without words.

Throughout my life, I have always turned to fashion to express myself. They say that when you’re growing up, your fashion changes. This is 100% accurate (at least with me)! As your personality changes along with the latest trends, your style can change too!

Each season has a different feel regarding fashion. In the summer, we are all about skirts, rompers, dresses and shorts. Winter, we are all about sweaters, jeans, booties and scarves. While I love the wardrobe for both seasons, my favorite season to dress for is summer. I’m all about the shorts, blouses and high heel sandals such as in the picture. This is one of my favorite outfits to go with during the summer because it’s got a casual, yet classy and fun feel to it. The heels make it more dressy if you are looking to look a little more dressed up! The gray top, which I found at Target, is a simple short top that has some lace on it to make it a little more dressy. The white shorts, which can be found at Francesca’s, add the summery feel to it (and are one of the most comfortable pair of shorts I have ever worn in my life). Now, my favorite part of the outfit probably has to be the shoes. I’m a shoes kind of girl, and to me, the shoes make or break the outfit. These black high heel sandals are from a local boutique from Ridgeland, Mississippi called Runway Seven. And finally, I topped the outfit off with a pair of gold ringed Ray-Ban sunglasses and a black BCBG purse. They’ve got this classy yet edgy feel to it which makes the outfit seem both dressy and casual at the same time.

I am beyond excited for the next five months to be observing the fashion trends and being able to share my own trends and style with all of you Fashionistas! Have a rad day!
