STYLE GURU BIO: Stephanie Son

Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Stephanie Son and words can’t express how stoked I am to be a Style Guru for the upcoming semester. I am a communications major with a minor in business administration and will be a senior this upcoming fall semester.

Growing up, I’ve always been surrounded by the fashion world (perks of having a fashion designer mom). Not only was I interested, but I’ve had my fair share at attempting to make my own clothes or drawing designs for my mom to bring to life. To this day, I will still bring designs to my mom to make for me. But, whether she makes them or not is entirely up to her.

I’ve always loved playing dress-up as a kid, whether it was sneaking clothes from my sister’s closet or just plain raiding my mom’s old clothes from the ’80s. It was a great way to experiment with different styles and textures and trends. From then to now, I’d say that I’ve developed my own very minimalistic style and grown my collection of clothes, which range from plain to straight “what was I thinking?” This look centers around my off-the-shoulder dress, which is having a very big moment right now. And I styled it with my trusty Vans Sk8-Hi and a classic denim jacket. While the look may seem very minimal, I am always looking to refine my style and absorb all the inspiration I can get (from wherever that may be).

Aside from daydreaming about piecing together my next outfit, I have a knack for looking for the next trendy food stop. It’s definitely one of my guilty pleasures. I’ll hit up a couple friends and just explore different foods from different cultures (#foodventures).

This semester is going to be #RAD and I can’t wait to share my style tips and inspirations with all of you! Keep posted here and I’ll see you in the next one.
