STYLE GURU BIO: Stephanie Sapienza

Hi there fellow Fashionistas! I am so happy to be returning for my second semester as a Style Guru. My last semester was a great experience and I cannot wait to see what this one brings! For those of you who are new here, my name is Stephanie Sapienza and I am finishing off my sophomore year in the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. I am currently trying to combine my love of marketing with my passion for fashion.

My interest in fashion started at a young age. I remember dying to watch the new episode of Project Runway every week: to this day I still cannot wait. Although it took a while for my mom to give me the liberty of picking out my own outfits, I was always excited to play “dress-up”. It is so fascinating to see how easily we can express ourselves through a piece of cloth. As simple it is to throw on a T-shirt and some jeans, it is so much more than that. Fashion is one of the many outlets for one’s creativity.

Since I became aware of this at such a young age, I have dabbled in various different styles. Yes, I have had my fair share of “worst-dressed” moments, but haven’t we all at some point? Or is that just me?! I think it is important to not let these mistakes hinder you in experimenting further, which is often what most of us tend to do. Fashion should be about diving into the water, not just dipping your toes in. It is something that should excite and thrill us. Personally, my day is made whenever I see one of my numerous online orders has arrived and is sitting on my front step. And yes, my inbox is flooded with e-mails about the latest sales and promotions: I cannot help it!

For this outfit, I decided to go for a day-to-night look. Black leather boots allow you to run errands comfortably but are easily dressy enough for a night out on the town. A cropped black blazer can essentially be thrown over any outfit, keeping you warm while looking stylish. Since most of the outfit is black, you should add some dimension to the look with a patterned item or a pop of color. I decided to keep the colors of this outfit basic and went for a printed skirt. Lastly, you cannot forget to accessorize. I am all for a statement necklace and cute bangle!

Within the next few months, I will be looking forward to all of the new trends and latest fashion I spot on my campus, as well as other campuses. I am so excited for this next semester and I hope you come along with me on this fashion journey!
