Fashion enthusiast. Trendsetter. Apparel advocate. Style devote. Shopaholic. Call it what you want, I go by all. Like many girls, the whole concept of shopping has never been too difficult for me. When I am bored, you will most likely find me scrolling endlessly through Pinterest boards, daydreaming over fashion blogs or creating new outfits just for fun. And if I could choose, the suggested 20 minutes of reading a day would only apply to Cosmopolitan, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar.
My name is Soleil Roth and I am an undeclared freshman attending the University of Washington. This will be my first time reporting as a Style Guru and I am more than excited to share all things fashion as I write for the ACCESSORIES REPORT column. Despite being popularly associated with hipsters and lying somewhat below the fashion radar, I am here to showcase the unique, diverse and extraordinary fashion us Seattleites exude that even has our coffee buzzing.
As for myself, I will be the first to admit that if you walked into my closet, you would see a lot of clothes. Like the seasons, my style is constantly changing and maturing; an endless process of updating and trying new looks. I like to describe my style as classic and elegant, where simple blouses and dark skinny jeans are a few of my favorite things, but my style does not stop there. Whether it’s in the twinkle of the Champs Elysees at night or the vibrant colors of street vendors in Rome, I find most of my inspiration in the many places I have been and even more in the places I have yet to go.
According to U.S. News World Report 2014, the University of Washington is a leading public university ranked in the top 25 engineering schools, number two in medical schools and number one in research universities. So naturally, I should be probably get back to studying for the MCAT. While my ultimate goal at college is to attain a higher education and earn a degree, I am also at college to find what I love, what I hate, what I want to do, what I don’t and then change my mind half way through. They say college is the time to focus on the future and become an “adult”, but for me it is the time to enjoy the present and become who I want to be. In pursuing my passions and discovering my niche; I have found that my journey has increasingly pushed me to embrace my creativity for art and pure love for fashion.
Hoping the fashion world is ready for us Huskies, here’s to a great semester and even greater style!
