Hi everyone! I’m Sofina Bassett and I’m a freshman at San Diego State University. As a Journalism major, I could not be more excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. It will give me a chance to integrate my love for fashion with writing. I’ve always had a strong sense of personal style and as a result, won “Best Dressed Female” every year in high school. I am looking forward to taking on the challenge of writing for the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS column.
My personal style is very feminine but with an edge. I love dresses and pieces that are flattering to my figure and I also have an obsession with gold studs. I try to incorporate studs into my outfits, even if it’s very subtle like with a studded collared blouse. I own a lot of black pieces because I think that any type of garment in the color black is essential and convenient to have in your wardrobe. I love gold accents, like the gold medallions on my favorite Tory Burch flats. It’s also my go-to color for accessories and jewelry. I don’t wear a lot of prints, but when I do, I can guarantee that they are almost always roses (another one of my obsessions).
My Tory Burch ‘Ella’ tote is my most used handbag and I take it everywhere with me. It has lots of space so it’s perfect to carry all my books for class. It’s also great for traveling. I was born and raised in Japan, so during winter and summer breaks I go back home. I can fit everything I need for the twelve-hour long flights between countries. Additionally, its solid black color design makes it an easy match with any outfit I wear.
I’ve always believed that confidence is very important and that one’s own personal style can really provide a person with it. When you know you look good, you feel good! I love going shopping with friends, helping them pick out pieces and exchange fashion advice.
I look forward to sharing the style of many Fashionistos at San Diego State University with you!
