Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Simedar Jackson and I’m so excited to be on the CollegeFashionista team again for the summer of 2013! I enjoyed writing for CollegeFashionista in the spring so much that I couldn’t turn down the offer for summer.
I’m a rising sophomore at Northwestern University majoring in Journalism. My goal is to become a fashion journalist so being a Style Guru is right up my alley and sitting in my driveway.
My style is always changing, making every day an adventure for me. My favorite style as of late is a mix between street and high fashion. Inspired by the new bad girls, Miley Cyrus and Ri-Ri, my style consists of wearing snapbacks paired with red lipstick and heels.
I’m not afraid to say that I like standing out. Since I’m almost six feet tall I’ve had to embrace the attention and I’ve done so through fashion. When I go shopping, I always look for the most innovative and original pieces to make sure heads are turning.
Unfortunately, college puts a strain on one’s ability, and motivation, to stay stylish. 9 a.m. class is the perfect excuse to wear sweats and a tiny dorm room closet means limited choices. As Style Guru, I’m here to get you through those tough times when you need some inspiration from the people who are also living the college lifestyle.
This summer, I’ll be dishing up some major swag from the city of Chicago. Summer in Chi-town is by far the best and there are always Fashionista/os on the cutting edge for the fashion freak within you to drool over.
My motto is that looking good means feeling good so let there be fashion!
