STYLE GURU BIO: Sibongile Toure

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Sibongile Toure, a senior computer science major at “The Mecca,” Howard University and I’m excited to say that this is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista. It is actually kind of hard to write a second bio I feel like I touched upon so much about myself in the first, I guess I’ll just remix it a little bit. As I mentioned up above I attend Howard University and it has given me a chance to not only grow as a person but cultivate my own personal style which is always growing and changing. I first got into fashion watching Project Runway with my parents when I was a little girl and it only grew as I got into reading magazines such as Seventeen and Teen Vogue.

In college I got a chance to really cement that love for fashion especially going to a school like Howard where many students are dressed to the nine’s everyday. Being in an environment like that is inspiring and it inspired me to continue to step outside my comfort zone and try different and new things with my personal style. I think in the past four years at school my style went from edgy to classic to bohemian and I love all of them. It made me truly see that for me a big part of my love for fashion comes from the fact that you can always switch it up from the day-to-day depending on various different factors.

Outside of my love for fashion, I also have a major love for travel having been to several places across the world including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Istanbul, Romania, Beijing, Shanghai and Paris. I plan to go to as many more as possible. Having gotten a chance to experience different cultures and see how we are so different but also similar is what made me fall in love with traveling.

Being from Brooklyn, I have seen so many different sorts of styles because in NYC you can truly see anything. I think that is in part what inspires my personal style. As I mentioned before I try not to limit my style to any one thing because I never want to get stuck in a box. That being said I look forward to having a #RAD summer and I hope you all enjoy my articles!
