STYLE GURU BIO: Shelby Howell

Hi Fashionistas/os! I’m Shelby Howell and I have just come to the end of my freshman year of college at SUNY Oneonta where I major in Fashion Merchandising. This first year really cemented the fact that I can’t see myself doing anything else career-wise other than fashion. New York City has my heart, luckily, since I am in the 3+1 program for my major, meaning that my senior year will be at the Fashion Institute of Technology (fingers crossed I get in!).

My love of fashion started around middle school when I would beg my mother to let me wear her clothes. She introduced me to my beloved J.Crew, and I hope to work for their corporate offices one day in New York City. I love bloggers such as Rach Parcell from Pink Peonies, Blair Eadie from Atlantic Pacific, and Carly Heitlinger from College Prepster. I love classic, preppy styles but I like to add an edgy twist from time to time. A classic button-down and jeans is my typical outfit, but sometimes I love leather leggings and a jean jacket. I’m a huge advocate for buying quality, basic pieces and styling them with staple accessories.

In addition to interning for CollegeFashionista this summer, I will be working at my local J.Crew part time! I’d like to call myself a coffee addict; you can almost always find me at my campus Starbucks or in town at our local coffee shop. My love for traveling has increased significantly over the years, which makes me excited for the traveling possibilities that could come with my future career. I look forward to showing you some great style this summer!
