STYLE GURU BIO: Sharilynn Brown

June 3rd, 2016 at 2:00am

I like to push the envelope, I always have. Fashion provides an outlet for me to do that without getting myself into trouble. From experimenting with trends such as crop tops and open backs to combining styles that don’t traditionally go together, I’m all about risk taking. When I’m not in class or at the beach, I’m probably at the gym. Therefore, when I get a chance to wear something besides spandex and Nikes, I take advantage of it (although I am very partial to my activewear).

For this semester’s STYLE GURU BIO I chose to wear my pleated jumpsuit accessorized with some of my favorite things including my Tommy Hilfiger tote and FITLIFE bracelet. This outfit is the perfect representation of my personal style perfectly because it includes classic elements such as my heeled sandal and Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses. However, details of the pleated jumpsuit such as the sheer leg of the garment make it more interesting and allow me to showcase the more playful side of my personality.

When I wrote my first STYLE GURU BIO, I was just a freshman with no idea what I wanted to do or who I was. I did happen to have a decent sense of style and a knack for writing and I thought that an internship would be a good thing to have. Applying to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista was the natural fit. I was so excited to begin my internship, but my painful awkwardness made it difficult to approach many of the individuals that I would have liked to have featured in my posts.

As I prepare for my senior year of college pursuing a degree in public relations, a lot has changed, by my love for CollegeFashionista (and lets be real, my awkwardness too), will always stay the same. Over the past three years I’ve developed a stronger sense of who I am, what I want and I’ve come to love conversing with people about their looks as I’ve built my confidence and strengthened my communication skills.

Being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista provides me with an excuse to both connect with and to learn from a wide variety of Fashionistas and Fashionistos wherever I go. More importantly, it allows me to share their styles and stories! I love meeting individuals that have their own sets of fashion rules, or lack thereof, learning from them and implementing some of their fashion ideas and innovations into my own looks. This summer I look forward to sharing a wide variety of looks, tips, tricks and stories in order to make this summer the most fashionable one yet.
