STYLE GURU BIO: Sharifa Khan

Style Guru Bio

The weather has warmed up and spring is in the air. What better way to celebrate the season than to return as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista? With the busy summer I have ahead of me, I look forward to taking a break from it all by scoping out style inspirations around the city. For the next few months I will be writing for the AROUND TOWN section. This new category will highlight fashion happenings in my area, meaning I will have the full opportunity to give you guys a view of all the hidden gems we have right at our doorstep.

Writing for CollegeFashionista is one of the many things I am incorporating into my summer break. In addition to this internship I will be studying for my GRE and LSAT (as I plan on taking them both), working for Mount Sinai Hospital and taking some time to begin writing the book I hope to one day publish. A lot of the time I find myself having to explain how one thing I’m pursuing fits into the other. One thing I have learned throughout the years it is that there is never a need to narrow down your dreams and follow a straight path in life. Even if your interests may seem to not match, college is the best time to pursue them. If it is something you love, never give it up and always give it your all.

Another of my passions aside from the above listed is finding bargain deals. I adore high fashion just as much as any Style Guru but unfortunately my bank account does not! As we all struggle through balancing finances in these unforgettable days of our lives, I will make it one of my goals to provide you all with boutiques that leave you with enough to buy more than ramen noodles and will still give you the runway look.

Staying true to my first STYLE GURU BIO, the cropped tops have not left my closet! And what better way to say “you can’t touch this” than pairing them with harem pants? With my constant shuffle between work, school and still wanting to feel like I’m in my early 20s, compiling outfits can be a struggle. I’ve found, however, that if you stock up on enough long blazers and heels you can throw them over your day to day outfits and immediately convert them to a more professional vibe. This is the look that you can find me in at any time and the one that I have grown into as I’ve entered the senior year of my undergraduate career.

If you are excited as I am to begin my journey through the AROUND TOWN category, then I hope you will bookmark my page and check in on the happening places to visit whenever you are out exploring the beautiful place I call home.
