STYLE GURU BIO: Shannon Philo

I’m Shannon, a 20 something senior in college with big fashionable dreams! I’ve been chasing them down since I graduated from high school, when I packed up my bags (and shoes) and moved to New York City to attend The Fashion Institute of Technology. While at FIT, I was given so many amazing opportunities; I volunteered backstage at New York Fashion Week, interned with both Ralph Lauren and Cosmopolitan magazine, assisted fashion editors on photo shoots with major celebs like Kate Upton and Kourtney Kardashian and ate a whole lot of Kronuts. Gosh, I miss the Kronuts (heavy sigh).

After earning my degree in fashion merchandising, I decided to pursue my passion for writing at Florida State University. Go ‘Noles! I’m now headed into the final semester of my degree at FSU with a major in editing, writing and media. After graduating in May, I plan to move back to New York and use my passion and experience to work for a fashion magazine!

I think what I love most about fashion is the way it can express individuality; what you choose to wear each day says so much about your own unique sense of self and personal identity. For this reason, I’m a huge believer in dressing for YOU rather than relying too heavily on what’s currently “in style.” I chose my look because I felt it was a perfect representation of my unique style, which I think of as feminine with an edge. I love to mix classic, girly staples with some edgier, trendy pieces!

Along with fashion, I also love love love all things beauty! I’m a huge makeup junkie and can often be found glued to my computer, binge-watching Jaclyn Hill tutorials. I’ve always said if I didn’t want to do fashion I would want to be a makeup artist!

Other things that make me, me include my love for healthy eating and working out; this is very important to me and a major part of my life. I also geek out to Bravo TV shows, especially the Real Housewives of anywhere and Vanderpump Rules; Tom Schwartz is my man crush! My favorite foods are sushi, french fries, and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, just not all together… well…maybe. And, fun fact, I was home-schooled in high school.
