STYLE GURU BIO: Shai Vaz

In the words of Tom Ford, “ Dressing well is a form of good manners.” As an aspiring fashion publicist, this is a quote that I live by. It is imperative to always put your best outfit forward, no matter the look you are trying to convey. I consider personal style to be a nonverbal way of introducing yourself, so make that first impression count! My name is Shai Vaz, and I am a sophomore public relations major at Howard University. Welcome to my page!

My style consists of a mix of comfy and sexy. Some days you can catch me in a pair of 4 inch booties and a body con skirt, and other days I can be seen sporting a windbreaker and sneakers accompanied by oversized clothing. Nevertheless, I always seek to still look very cute by accessorizing or accenting with a lip color. Lipstick is a great way to set the tone for my outfits. I enjoy experimenting with bold colors such as green, blue, black, purple, and even silver. By simply adding an exotic lip, an ordinary day to day ensemble can be transformed into an edgy look.

My interest in fashion did not really come until I grew much older. I have always enjoyed looking pretty; however, it was not until college when I began to fall deeply in love with fashion and chose to pursue it as a career. Now, I consider the act of coordinating a look to be an art. My favorite time passer is online shopping. Even when I am not ordering a pair of new shoes or a coat, I am scrolling through pages of sales and new arrivals. Online window shopping helps inspire my future purchases and provides me with different ideas on how to re-wear the clothes in my closet.

My featured look is one of my many all-black creations. Lace bodysuits are the quickest way to dress up an outfit regardless of the the bottoms. I paired the black lace bodysuit with a pair of black harem pants and creeper sneakers. Just like that, you have a stylishly comfortable outfit perfect for a day on your feet! To accessorize, I added a pair of gold sunglasses to complete the look. The gold color gave the black ensemble a pop and accented the lace of the body suit nicely.

I am very excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista Style Guru internship program this semester. I hope my fellow Fashionistas/os enjoy my page, and be sure to look for my latest style advice/postings!
