STYLE GURU BIO: Sarah Vermillion

Hey there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Sarah Vermillion, and I am a rising sophomore at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. At Marist, I study fashion merchandising with concentrations in product development and fashion promotion. I was never that interested in fashion until I was introduced to magazines like Vogue, ELLE magazine and Harper’s Bazaar. With the combination of photography, articles and fashion, I was instantly hooked. I look forward to reporting the latest trends this summer as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista!

My style wasn’t defined until I was in high school. Even though I was stuck wearing a uniform everyday, I took advantage of my weekends as a chance to express my own personal style. From preppy to bohemian, I came into my own once I went to college. I define my style as J.Crew and Anthropologie with a edge. On an average day, you could see me in fashion’s favorite color, black, which I pair with my favorite denim pieces. Although I do like to play with the latest trends, my favorite part of putting together my outfits is accessorizing them with unique pieces of jewelry. Gold is my jewelry of choice. On any given day, you can see me wearing my signature Marc Jacobs gold lighting bolt earrings, multiple rings and a sun and moon necklace. I love to play with jewelry by layering necklaces, bracelets or a ring to accent an outfit.

I draw my inspiration from street style. In the words of Bill Cunningham, fashion’s favorite trendsetting photographer, “The best fashion show is definitely on the streets, always has been and always will be.”

With my style ever changing and a passion for the creative side of fashion, I look forward to what I will do in the future. I am excited to be part of the CollegeFashionista team, and I can’t wait to share all the styles of the summer and highlight some of the street style that many college Fashionistas will bring to the scene this summer.
