STYLE GURU BIO: Sarah Sparks

Hi everyone! As you probably already know by now, my name is Sarah and I am currently a freshman at Brigham Young University. My college is a private Christian university located in Utah, so it’s obvious to assume that you will definitely spot nearly everyone wearing church clothes every Sunday here on campus. I’m excited to capture some of those cute humans’ outfits and share them on my page!

I, of course, have always loved dressing up. Not just on Sundays, but every day! My style certainly fits in with the dressy category, though. I learned to love vibrant, voluminous skirts from my Korean mother, who would dress me in traditional dresses called “hanboks” when I was young. When I’d wear them, I always felt like royalty. You can see how much I like those types of skirts just by looking at this post! I got my silk pink midi skirt from Banana Republic and paired it with my white tissue top from H&M. Because I’m quite short (I’m only 5’4), I made myself taller with some blinged out heels from Sam Edelman and matched the sparkle with a bit of arm candy from J.Crew.

I’m absolutely in love with the classy look, like Audrey Hepburn, one of my greatest inspirations, or Lauren Conrad, Miranda Kerr and Lily Collins. On the other hand, I like the Tomboy style as well, like Alexa Chung or Leslie Feist (my favorite singer). Although those celebrities are big contributors to my personal fashion sense, I try to find influence from those around me, which is a big reason why interning for CollegeFashionista is a good thing for me.

I’ve always been skeptical about starting a blog, therefore becoming a Style Guru is helping me transition into making that decision easier. I first wanted to start blogging due to my singing career. It’s not much of a career, really, but I was a part of The X Factor’s Top 200 contestants at Los Angeles in 2011, so singing is a huge part of my life! I try to incorporate vocals into my social media life along with my style. If you want to see or hear more from me, I’d love for you to visit my Instagram profile @sarahspunky, or make sure to view my posts again here on CollegeFashionista! I love you all and look forward to seeing you guys in the future! Sayonara, friends!
