STYLE GURU BIO: Sarah Bomicino

Hey, everybody! I’m Sarah Bomicino, lover of pizza and cheesy fries and all the lovely things in between. This is my first year being a part of the CollegeFashionista team and I am thrilled, to say the least! I currently attend Saint Xavier University in Chicago with a major in nursing and a minor in business marketing. I absolutely love my major of nursing and while there is nothing more rewarding than the healing power of touch, fashion has always been a passion of mine since the day I rocked my first outfit at preschool (not that ’90s neon windbreakers and overalls count). My mom loves to tell the story of how my fashion sense more or less “heightened” after my first day of the oh SO fashionable world of preschool; I wasn’t caught dead after that without a dress on and my party shoes. Really, I swear I wouldn’t go to bed without my spiffy party shoes on and refused to take them off!

Fast forward to being 23 years old and here we are, much more fashion aware and I still love my party shoes, just big girl party shoes of course! For me, fashion is expressive of who we are as an individual, whatever that may be. I believe everybody is fashion forward in their own way and that’s what’s really inspiring about it. If I had to describe my own style I would have to say classic chic with a rebel twist to it. The look that I created here would definitely be more of my classic chic side; the parachute black satin trousers with a slit paired with the off-the-shoulder white ruffled top and a pop of pink in the clutch are a mimosas and brunch must!I love to try new trends and even more so to create my own looks that will influence others to try it too! You can drop me off in a mall and I could buy out the entire place or at a thrift store and I could recreate old into trendy; either way, I love to get creative with whatever I purchase.

My style icon will forever and always be Brigitte Bardot; her ever changing looks impacted the world of fashion and this girls closet! Her mix of classy and provocative with simplistic chic embodied the standard for style in the 1960s and 1970s. I also love Rachel Zoe as both a stylist for the stars and a designer of her own visions.

I look forward to sharing my style with all my Fashionistas/os out there and hope to ignite the Style Guru in everyone!
