STYLE GURU BIO: Samantha Prasopthum

Wow, wow, wow! Can you believe how fast summer flew by? I am still in denial and slightly dreading the return to school (let’s just say I am not much of a morning person). Even though I wish I was still lounging around in the California sun I am incredibly excited to kick off my third semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista!

If any of you fellow Fashionistas/os (new and returning) have not read any of my articles before allow me to introduce myself! My name is Sam and I am a junior at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University where I major in photography and imaging. However, I have a huge love for fashion and originally planned to be a fashion design major! Even though I went a different route I still enjoy coming up with designs and finding ways to incorporate unique pieces with my everyday wardrobe.

I am a big fan of independent designers, thrift store finds and odd accessories. I find that these unique pieces are usually what makes my outfit, like this fun retro print pinafore dress that I purchased from fashion blogger Eugenie Grey. It is definitely one of my favorite pieces in my closet! I paired it with a classic white button down to give it an overall chic look that was perfect for the first day of school. I wanted to edgy up the classic schoolgirl look by also adding some black fluffy heels and cool accessories. I decided to sport one of my favorite necklaces by independent jewelry designer Kt Ferris (@ktferriscreations), whose work is like beautiful wearable art! I also cannot go anywhere without my phone so I fancied it up with a ‘basic repellent’ phone case by Valfre! I love her cases because they are super protective while looking like a sketch that has come to life.

Overall I like to have fun with my looks because fashion is all about having fun and feeling comfortable in your own skin. I love pushing my own boundaries in order to discover what works best and to expand my knowledge as a Style Guru. Fashion is also evolving and I cannot wait to share the latest trends and styles with you all this fall semester!
