STYLE GURU BIO: Ryann Younker

Hello there, fellow Fashionistas! I am thrilled to be able to introduce myself as one of the Washington State University Style Gurus for this summer! This is my first time scoring an internship with the CollegeFashionista team and I am thrilled as to what is in store. I am very enthusiastic to share with you my favorite trends throughout these next couple of months, but first let me briefly introduce myself:

My name is Ryann Younker and I am a going to be a sophomore at Washington State University (don’t judge me by our football team). I am currently studying Apparel, Merchandising, Textiles and Design with a minor in Public Relations.

I was born in Spokane, Washington, where I currently reside still today. Although I have spent my entire life adoring styles and trends, I did not fully develop an obsession for fashion until my teen years. I grew up riding horses and spending the majority of my time being active in some sort of sporting event. Some would have even considered me to be a “tomboy” in elementary school, but I later enhanced my girly and sparkly side a few years down the road and discovered the interesting world of fashion.

My style can range from preppy-chic blazers to bohemian Free People junkie with lots of layers on any given basis. My clothing often represents the mood I am in when getting out of bed in the morning…or sometimes afternoon. But nevertheless, if I had to describe my style  it would be relaxed and oversized. Chunky, oversized cardigans and shredded denim are among my favorite staple items in my wardrobe at this moment and which will be likely featured in many of my future posts.

I also currently work at a boutique called Swank, located in the heart of Northtown Square Mall. This is also where I find a lot of my inspiration and courage to adopt new trends. Swank has been named one of the top boutiques and won numerous awards for its unique clothing, so it comes easily that I can stay up to date and onto upcoming trends. As my boss would say, “Ladies this is your one stop shop,” so if you ever find yourself in the 509, come give me a hello (and maybe chia tea while you’re at it).

Well Fashionistas, now that you know a little about myself and my fashion background, I hope you will check back often for many upcoming style tips and tricks! And remember, in the words of Coco Chanel: “ in order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.”
