STYLE GURU BIO: Rebecca Poling

Hey there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Rebecca Poling, and I am currently a junior at Penn State University. I am majoring in Print Journalism and minoring in Business and Sociology. My dream is to have a career in magazine writing preferably fashion or health and lifestyle related. This is my first time writing for CollegeFashionista, and I am so excited to explore the fashion at Penn State this fall!

I am from the suburbs of Philadelphia and from a small town that has a vast and beautiful countryside. I love my town so much, that two years ago I decided to go to Penn State, which is located in another small town (essentially a college town…) in Pennsylvania. I absolutely love it here, and can’t wait for fall (arguably the best season for fashion), football games and sweaters!

I absolutely love to travel, and this past summer I had an amazing opportunity to study abroad in Seville, Spain. I had traveled to Europe before in high school with my family, but there’s nothing like going halfway across the world on your own to experience it for yourself! I made awesome friends and travelled all over Spain, Portugal, France and the Netherlands. I improved my Spanish as well; I mean, how else would I have been able to order that café con leche!

Besides a love of travel, I enjoy working out (i.e. anything from body pump to Pilates to the elliptical), and I have an obsession with cute and comfy workout clothes. The gym is my happy place and where I relieve stress. I also thoroughly enjoy shopping at quaint boutiques and even thrift shops to get the greatest deals on some cool pieces. As I said before, I love fall and the fashion that comes with it: flannels, cardigans, light scarves and little heeled booties. After college, I long to live in New York City for a couple of years, probably in the smallest apartment with multiple roommates and of course with my orange tabby, Boots. On any given day, you can find me sitting in a coffee shop in State College reading and sipping a latte.

And now finally, my outfit! I love this dress because it’s so easy to wear and fun to accessorize. This dress is sleeveless and from H&M. This green cardigan is one of my favorite colors for fall; it’s neutral and can go with almost anything! I’m wearing my usual jewelry pieces including a “Becca” personalized necklace that you can get here. I never leave home without it! I also always wear my rose gold Fossil watch for some day-to-day easy arm candy. I love the strappy style wedge trend (I think it’s so flattering on the foot), and thus, these little wedges make this look complete.

I’m ready and excited to see all of the trends from the other Fashionistas/os this fall and what Penn State has to offer in the realm of fashion!
