STYLE GURU BIO: Rebecca Golub

Well hello my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Rebecca Golub and this is my first semester as a STYLE GURU. I am a rising sophomore at Marist College majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and minoring in Fashion Merchandising. Outside of classes at Marist, I hold the executive position of Director of Chapter Advancement for an incredible organization called the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and I am the Secretary of Marist’s fashion club called ‘Fashion Inc.’.

I am overjoyed to have been awarded this opportunity to write my heart out about college-aged street style because I truly believe that the younger generation is at the grassroots of fashion trends. We influence the fashion industry tremendously whether we realize it or not.

This summer, I am excited to show you college street style along both coasts of the United States– Washington, DC (my hometown), in New York City, and in San Francisco. I find it incredible how much trends differ by demographic, and I cannot wait to show you how when I write articles about street style in Manhattan versus articles about street style in San Francisco!

Ever since my freshman year of high school, I have been on a soul-searching mission to find a career that I would truly enjoy for the rest of my life. I knew that I wanted to wake up every morning, expecting to look forward to my day, so excited that I would do a little dance in my room while getting dressed in the morning. I wanted a career where there would always be a new task at hand, where every day was different. After some soul searching in high school through creating my own fashion club and interning at a fashion showroom in New York City, I realized that a career in fashion was just what I had been searching for all along. So here I am, working slowly but surely toward my future fashion career and enjoying every moment of the ride.

As for my style, I find myself sticking to classic looks and working them with new trends that I like. In these pictures I am wearing a dress from TOBI, Alex+Ani bracelets, a kate spade watch, a braided leather bracelet that I bought somewhere in Venice and  Sam Edelman sandals.

I would have to say that my favorite trend of this summer season is romantic white lace. A few designers that I think did a spectacular job of incorporating the trend into their designs are Valentino and Chloé because they are boho-chic, yet refined, wearable, and perfect for a fun summer day out and about.
