STYLE GURU BIO: Rebecca Fechino

I am Rebecca Fechino, and I am now a senior (ahh!) at the University of Tennessee, majoring in public relations and minoring in Italian. Since I was a freshman, the University of Tennessee was never really a fashion central place. Many people dress for comfort to go to class instead of style, but sometimes, you come across that one person that makes you look twice. Those are the types of people that inspire me to do CollegeFashionista each semester.

I’m still trying to figure out my style. I like to continue to refine it as I get older and move throughout my college career, but still stay with the root of my original style.  My friends inspire me. Strong, empowered women inspire me to wear and be what I want.

I look forward to getting dressed every morning. Getting dressed, for me, is a chance for people to see me in the way that I see myself, no matter what mood I’m in that day. You can normally catch me in a printed T-shirt or a crop top with a skirt and Vans Sk8-Hi’s, but recently I’ve been experimenting with Timberland boots and jeans outfits, because I wear a lot of skirts.

Fashion is the easiest form of individualism. Own it, dress to express yourself. It uses your feelings and shows people who you are and what you feel. Having good style isn’t hard, but it does take some effort. Spend this time in college to find who you are through fashion and find your personal confidence in your own style. Don’t be scared to try something new and take risks, because you never know what you may or may not like.
