STYLE GURU BIO: Reanna Pergolizzi

My name is Reanna and I am so honored to be interning for CollegeFashionista. In the spring I will be in my second semester of  junior year at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I absolutely love going to school here. Even though I do not get the typical “college experience”, I have had endless opportunities, met so many amazing people and gone on endless adventures.

I am majoring in fashion merchandising. Ever since I was a little girl I never wanted to do anything with my life that did not include fashion. When I was young my mom opened up a vintage clothing shop named after me (Reanna’s Closet), which is still open to this day! This is where I began to be obsessed with clothes and the styling/merchandising aspect of fashion.

Growing up in a small town, the fashion was always very casual. Now that I live in Manhattan I am surrounded by various trends. I am so inspired by all of the style that surrounds me on a daily basis. This is what made me want to pursue a career in styling instead of my original dream of buying. I would love to work for a high fashion magazine doing editorial styling. I also aspire to have a career that includes a lot of traveling, I can never seem to get enough of it. CollegeFashionista is the perfect internship for me, it combines an eye for style, journalism and photography, my three favorite aspects of the fashion world!

I consider my personal style to be bohemian and funky. I am inspired by trends from the ’70s and the ’90s. In the photos above I am wearing a creamy white long sleeve shirt from H&M. On the bottom, I am in a wool black and white plaid skirt from American Apparel (totally inspired by Clueless). Underneath the skirt I am wearing tights, also from American Apparel- these are perfect for the colder months where I want to still wear skirts without freezing! The booties, my personal favorite part of the outfit, are a gem that I found at Forever 21. They are black faux leather with a gold block heel. I adore these booties because they add variety to every outfit. I have layered with a tan peacoat from Gap. This outfit perfectly depicts my style because it is trendy, comfortable and perfect to wear around the city or to a holiday party.

I cannot wait to share my perspective on NYC street style and FIT campus style. Fashion is an art to me, just like Rachel Zoe once said, “style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
