Greetings, fellow fashion lovers and welcome back from winter break! My name is Rachel Parker and I am happy to announce that this will be my first semester writing here at CollegeFashionista. Throughout the spring, I will be posting STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK articles so make sure to check in every Monday to see what trends I am loving.
I am currently a third year student at Kent State University taking courses in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising. If I have learned anything during my time at KSU, it’s that our campus really is a runway. The students here are passionate about their individuality and use their own unique style to express themselves. It’s one of the first things I noticed after transferring to Kent State and ultimately why I decided to apply for CollegeFashionista. I am really looking forward to sharing the spirit of our campus with you and being able to do so through my love of writing, photography and street style.
My own personal style is centered around comfort and cost. I am a firm believer that one can still be on trend while on a budget, which is why you’ll most likely find me in a thrift store when I’m not in class. I like to keep my wardrobe filled with a handful of simplistic and neutral basics that can easily be jazzed up with whatever funky scarf or pair of boots I feel like wearing that day. Living in Northeast Ohio where the weather is just about an unpredictable as Miley Cyrus has proved to be in the last year, I have also learned to dress practically. Pieces such as the heavy peacoat, thick boots and knit beanie I am sporting today are essential for staying warm during these harsh winter months.
So there you have it, folks. Enough about me—it’s time for me bring to you the trends that Kent State’s very own Golden Flashes are working this spring. Let’s do this.
