STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Lim

Hello you beautiful and stylish human beings! My name is Rachel, and I am a second year student studying at Boston College. I’m in the Carroll School of Management where I am majoring in finance and marketing and also minoring in applied psychology and human development. I’m not afraid to admit that I am not quite sure what I want to do in the future, however, I’m slowly finding my place in the world by taking on opportunities that come my way. I am currently a campus ambassador for Vera Bradley, and I’m beyond stoked to take on another internship this semester with CollegeFashionista.

Living on a campus that is only 30 minutes away from the city of Boston, I’m fortunate in the sense that I get to experience the best of both worlds. I would say my personal fashion style is chameleon-like. It surely is a reflection of the comfortable and laid-back atmosphere of a campus mixed in with the vibrancy and classiness that is unique to the city. Being on a hip-hop dance team on campus adds a little street flavor to my outfits as well. I enjoy venturing out and trying new combinations of different clothing items. My all-time favorite fashion icon would be Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) from the TV show, Friends, and it’s not because we share the same name. It’s one of my favorite shows, but it’s because of her innovative outfits that truly transcended the ’90s.

For this look, I decided to recreate one of the outfits that I’ve worn in Boston since I was on my way to New York City anyway (peep the train tracks). It was one of those sunny and warm winter days; therefore, I was able to wear a tank top with only a blazer on top. The combination of the velvet cami and the rum raisin lip color gave the outfit a slight ’90s vibe. In order to make the outfit a bit more casual and comfortable, I chose a distressed pair of jeans and dark brown booties. To top it all off, I added a gold choker to spice up the outfit.
