STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Haas

Hello, Fashionista/os! My name is Rachel Haas, and I am currently a freshman at Miami University. I am very excited for this upcoming semester as a Style Guru to be able to show you all the fun, unique and stylish trends that can be spotted around Miami’s beautiful campus.

My love for fashion derives from my childhood. Starting young, I was infatuated with America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway. I played Stardoll fashion games faithfully, and trust me when I say that my Barbies, Polly Pockets and American Girl Dolls all had the best outfits out of all my friends. From all these influences, I grew up believing that the best way to express yourself is through how you dress, and that is what has continued my love for fashion and my desire to always, always, always keep expanding my closet (like you even need an excuse to).

I consider my style to be a mixture of everything. Some days I wake up really feeling myself, and so on those days I usually go for an edgy look: some black skinny jeans, statement booties and a bold top. On those mornings where I want to sleep in a little longer (which I know happens to all of us who have gotten stuck with 8:30 a.m. classes), I throw on an oversized sweater, ripped boyfriend jeans, Nikes (since you now have to power walk to your class) and a hat to cover up my atrocious bed-head. For a night out with my friends, I usually like to glam up my look. I am a big fan of mixing textures and patterns, so a go-to outfit for me would be a leather skirt paired with a flirty bodysuit. Of course none of these outfits are complete without the right accessories. For me, it would be simplistic jewelry, my favorite Ray-Bans and a stylish purse to perfect the look.

Winter and Spring have some of the best options for new trends and styles, so I am excited to share with you the ones I love that I find around Oxford. However, no matter the weather or the circumstances, make sure to always switch up your style while still staying true to yourself. Much love, XOXO.
