STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Gregson

Currently a sophomore at VCU, my last two years in Richmond have shaped my life in many ways. Unable to pick between fashion merchandising and public relations, I decided to put an end to my indecisiveness and double major. Coming to an urban college had a huge influence on my choice to pursue a career in fashion. Everything from the tattoos of VCU students to the murals on my walk home remind me how much I love art and reassures me that I made the right decision.

In addition to art and fashion, I love reading, writing, running and hot yoga. I’m a very social person and love being surrounded by people and activities which is part of the reason I love living in a city. I’ve been a vegetarian for four years and counting, so exploring Richmond’s unconventional restaurants with friends is one of my favorite things to do.

As for my style, I prefer simple and classic. My go-to weekday outfit consists of a basic colored top, high-waisted jeans and simple jewelry. For a weekend look, a little black dress and heels, and a red lip is ideal. Shoes are the most important part of any outfit to me, so that’s usually what my clothes revolve around.  After visiting the Steve Madden showroom for three years and meeting him in person on my high school NYC fashion trip, I’ve preferred his heels over the rest. In addition to a pair of pumps, lipstick is key, my favorite being a deep red from either Mac or Stilla. I shop at stores like Nordstrom, Topshop, and Urban Outfitters, and since moving to Richmond I’ve discovered a new love for thrifting.

I’m so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista and can’t wait to show you all of the unique styles and trends the VCU campus has to offer!
