Hello all! My name is Rachel Colonna, and this is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista! I am approaching my sophomore year at Loyola University Chicago, where I am majoring in Advertising and Public Relations and minoring in Visual Communications.
I have always been a fashion fanatic, and this is the first professional step I’ve taken to be able to further my passion. I often find myself up all night looking at interviews of incredible designers, such as Olivier Rousteing, Jean Paul Gaultier and the beautiful fashion photographs taken by Tim Walker. Every time I flip through a fashion magazine such as Harper’s Bazaar or Vogue, I can’t help but become inspired by all of the amazing works I see inside. The colors and the details never cease to make my eyes eager and stomach flutter, ah! My ultimate dream would be to contribute to those pages one day and inspire another seeker of fashion and beauty.
I always giggle remembering my four-year-old self getting upset because the shade of my purple top did not match the shade of my purple bottoms. I don’t know why I thought looking like a complete grape would be a good fashion choice for me in the first place, but I guess it felt right at the time!
To me, fashion is how someone visibly expresses their personality and creativity. It is how I show a mood whether that be confident, bold, neutral or relaxed. Clothes are a form of insight into people’s minds, and I find that so exciting.
I am beyond thrilled to see where this internship takes me and see all of the individual styles I come across! I hope you all enjoy what I capture this season, and who knows? Maybe you will end up on one of theses talented Style Guru’s pages as well!
