Hi everyone my name’s Penelope Liersch. I’m a second year journalism student at RMIT University Melbourne as well as a television/radio presenter and actress. I’m very excited to be joining the College Fashionista team as a Style Guru this fall! You’ll have to bear with me as I’m an Aussie, where it’s actually winter going into spring right now; so I’ll be bringing you some styles that may be suited to the warmer months. However, I cannot wait to start showing you the beautiful people and gorgeous style of Melbourne as Australia’s fashion capital.
In addition to acting and presenting for television and radio, I also work promotions and love travel, fitness, health, adventure, public speaking and finding inspirational stories. I also love everything to do with style—from food and interiors, to jewelry and fashion. This brings me to another love, which is the art of makeup. There is nothing more admirable than makeup done beautifully, so I’ll be trying to incorporate a few make up tips, trends, products geniuses into my STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK posts.
As far as my personal style goes, I grew up a tomboy, a country girl and competitive horse rider that became a girly girl in her teens. I will forever love the classically sexy Victoria’s Secret styling of voluminous waves, bronzed skin, contoured cheekbones, a smoky eye and pale lip. This look is perfection when paired with any outfit. As you might have guessed, my personal style is a little all over the place. I tend to keep it reasonably classic with fitted pieces, good skinny jeans, cute dresses, shorts. I balance out my outfits with texture, complementary colors and some stand out accessories. I admire anyone who carries their style with confidence or highlights an outfits with accessories. While I love seeing people dressed to the nines, I also adore a classically simple, comfortable looking outfit or anything sporty-chic, particularly when paired with a vest (that’s the tomboy coming out!)
Right now I’m really into layering the lengths and textures of an ensemble. I love brights—blues, pinks, greens and reds—however, being from Melbourne, I believe you can never go wrong with a classic black outfit. Today I’m wearing Zara jeans and a classic Topshop cami and carrying a faux fur coat. Statement jewelry is one of my must-have pieces as you can see with my necklace and Mimco ring. I polished my outfit off with possibly two of the best beauty products of all time: Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Contour Palette and Napoleon Perdis DéVine Goddess Lipstick in Hess.
So follow me on social media—Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest and Tumblr—to see what I’m up to. You can even check out my blog, and keep your eyes peeled for STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK, coming to you from the land of Oz.
