I wore these pants specifically so I could use the phrase “check out the new girl” in this post. So, check out the new girl…me! I was so excited to have received a congratulatory email revealing the success of my application to become a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I want a career that will involve both fashion and photography, and I think that being a Style Guru will help prepare me for that. I can’t wait to see how much I learn and grow from this experience.
I am currently a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin. Hook ‘em horns! I study business at one of the best business schools in the country and am so proud to say so. While school is a big part of my life, sport is too. I am an avid rock climber on the Texas Rock Climbing Team. In April, we won the National Collegiate Climbing Series Championship for the second year in a row. Okay, okay, enough bragging.
Austin is such a weird place, but its weirdness inspires the fashion. There are so many unique personalities and styles here, so my senses are never bored. My personal style reflects my taste in interior design: mid-century modern. I love mixing the old with the new, or taking old things and wearing them in a new way. Sifting through dusty old vintage store racks is just as enjoyable for me as walking into a fresh boutique that displays the latest designs. It’s fun to be different, and I love that I’m in a city where most people embrace that. I can’t wait to find some of these fashionistas/os and share their one-of-a-kind style tips with you. Until then, I’ll offer one of my own:
It’s so Clueless, but I’m thrilled to announce that checkered print have made a comeback! Checks were all over the runways in fall 2013 ready-to-wear collections by the likes of Celine and Stella McCartney. Girls, you can find checked pants similar to mine at ASOS. Boys, you can also get in on the trend. Amp up your style on the green with these snazzy trousers from Brooks Brothers.
I’m looking forward to sharing more style advice with you in the coming semester!
