It’s hard to believe that I’m writing my sixth STYLE GURU BIO as an intern for CollegeFashionista. As a senior at the University of Florida (I feel very old) and a journalism major, I’ve spent the past two years writing for multiple categories on CollegeFashionista, participating in the site’s editorial internship and acting as a Head Style Guru for my campus. I’ve also written for CollegeFashionista in two very different cities –– here in Florida for UF, and in Utrecht (a city in the Netherlands) at University College Utrecht, an international university.
As you can tell, CollegeFashionista has become a HUGE part of my life, and I’ve been challenged for the past five semesters to really discover and develop my passion for fashion journalism and all that it entails. Throughout my time interning for CollegeFashionista, I’ve really developed a love of fashion writing and social media management, and I now write about fashion for multiple websites.
As a fashion writer, I quickly discovered that social media is inherently connected to my chosen field in journalism. And that has worked out pretty well since, if you know anything about me, you know that I am absolutely obsessed with social media. If I’m not blogging, planning a future outfit, writing/editing for CollegeFashionista or binge-watching Real Housewives (judge me), then I’m almost definitely posting on Instagram or on Twitter connecting with other lovers of fashion.
I love that CollegeFashionista has allowed me to develop skills in social media promotion throughout my time interning for the site, and more that that –– Instagram, Facebook and Twitter –– CollegeFashionista has given me the opportunity to connect with so many other wonderful Style Gurus, who I now consider not only friends, but creative inspiration for my life and career.
Aside from interning in the realm of fashion writing and social media management, I have a deep love of travel. Although I’m not able to see as many new places as I did when I was living in the Netherlands, I still love the occasional spontaneous road trip and planning (or day dreaming about) vacations to new destinations is a favorite past time of mine. In my spare time, I also love to play around with photography, shop online (are you surprised?), try new restaurants, watch Game of Thrones, shop online more and read.
And as for my personal style? If you can learn anything through checking out all my past STYLE GURU BIOS, it’s that my personal sense of style is ever-evolving. My favorite pieces (at the moment) include: a go-to leather jacket, some versatile gladiator sandals and any/all J.Crew statement jewelry.
I’m exciting to write for a brand new category for CollegeFashionista this semester, AROUND TOWN. I can’t wait to highlight hidden fashion gems in Gainesville and learn more about the city that I’m in. Stay tuned, fellow Fashionista/os!
