STYLE GURU BIO: Olivia Jackson

June 2nd, 2016 at 2:00am

My name is Olivia Jackson and I’m thrilled to be a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista for this upcoming summer! I’m a rising senior at Williams College, double majoring in Art History and English. Here at Williams, I’m a member of the swim team and have had several internships in various offices across campus, which have allowed me to connect and engage with different groups of people on campus. Being a swimmer poses particular challenges to making statements in the fashion world, such as constantly having wet hair and maintaining hydrated skin; I’ve been forced to rely on a wet, messy bun or lose braid and intense moisturizing lotions!

My passion for fashion and awareness of emerging trends started in high school when I began to care about what I wore and how I looked, and I started adapting my style to endless pearls and polo shirts. I was drawn to traditional preppy brands, amassing chino shorts with embroidered sea animals, and switching my footwear to boat shoes and Jack Rogers shoes. In college, my style has certainly evolved, yet my core “go-to” looks have not changed. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a pair of cute cropped jeans, a bright colored cardigan and a statement necklace!

I would absolutely say that my style is sophisticated and preppy, with the occasional twist! My wardrobe revolves around my varied assortment of chino shorts from J.Crew and bright, bold prints from Lilly Pulitzer. However, I really value having an array of different brands and multiple styles in my closet such as bohemian or cut-out rompers or sequined bodycon skirts, all while still maintaining and emphasizing a unique, individualistic style to inspire confidence and comfort. I love having an assortment of pieces that diversify my style–anything from velvet crop tops to lace-detailed, ripped jean shorts to expand my wardrobe.

For the look in these photos, I paired my favorite pleated, polyester navy shorts from J.Crew with a tank top embellished with lace detail. I used gold accessories, including my headband, jewelry, belt and kate spade sandals to accent the solid colors of the shorts and top. Matching accessories to my outfit is crucial to me, anything from the perfect headband or bow to a structured bag to complete the look!

My favorite brands include J.Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch and kate spade. I also love getting cute, comfortable and affordable clothing at Forever 21, TOBI and LuLu’s. I’m interested in pursuing a career in fashion and I can’t wait to expand my knowledge and skills during my internship here at CollegeFashionista! Looking forward to a chic and classy summer!
