STYLE GURU BIO: Olivia Griffin

Hey! I’m Olivia, and I’m from the great city of Atlanta. I currently study Advertising and General Business at the University of Alabama. Roll Tide—it’s a necessary thing we do here. After months of reading the articles on this website, I’m so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista this summer! This is my first time writing for a major site, and I can’t wait to get started!

Summer is the perfect season to be a Style Guru! The grass is greener, the sun is shining and people are out and about. I love seeing the styles manifest their way onto the cultural streets of Atlanta, as well as the sweet country campus of the University of Alabama.

Coming to Alabama from Atlanta, I realized I was a little bit “overdressed.” Proper school clothes on campus are big shirts, shorts and sandals, but for me, school clothes are a complete outfit. I enjoy waking up and getting ready! Doing my makeup, hair and finding the perfect accessory to match is exhilarating.

Being from such a diverse city like Atlanta, I have observed many trends and styles. This has helped mold my personal style into what it is today. My style is tomboy meets girly girl. It’s a little confusing, I know. But just stick with me here.

I love a great pair of heels, but sneakers worn the right way can give me life! Crop tops have been in style for a long time, and I can’t see them going anywhere anytime soon. But an oversized shirt turned into a dress or paired with the right pants can make such a great outfit. An amazing skirt or dress appeals to my eyes, but a pair of high-waisted shorts or jeans with a great blouse is also a great look.

My hope is that these articles I write inspire someone. I’m excited to contribute every Thursday to the fashion I see at the University of Alabama!  And remember, as Oscar Wilde said, “You can never be too overdressed or overeducated.”
