STYLE GURU BIO: Olivia Abbatiello

Hey fellow Fashionistas/os and hello to the people that I have forcibly sent this article to! My name is Olivia Abbatiello and I am currently a super senior (extra semester, I like to call it a victory lap) at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. I will be graduating December 14th with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Retailing. This is my first rodeo here at CollegeFashionista, so I hope to do this amazing community some justice and produce some great work for you readers!

I hail from Long Island, New York, so being here in the South has been a little bit of a whirlwind, but a nice calm, slower pace one. I’ve adjusted to see a second home in South Carolina. I grew up on the north shore of the island in Nassau County. For those wondering, yes, where the Bravo show Long Island Princesses was filmed. Can you say, claim to fame? I love New York and I am forever thankful for growing up a stone’s throw away from the greatest city in the world.

My daily activities revolve around my number one dog pal, a Beagle mix named Ellie. She drives me absolutely crazy while simultaneously causing me sheer happiness. But I guess that’s love, right? When she decides it’s time to chill, chill is what we do. I am a shameless lover of all things Internet and social media, my favorite being Instagram. I do get out sometimes though! Dog walks by the river and yoga are my go-to physical activities. I love a chic athletic wear ensemble, so that definitely motivates me.

So, now that we are extremely well acquainted, let’s get to this outfit! I can confidently call this my style uniform. I love the high-wasted, drop-crotch distressed jean short. The plain white T-shirt is, in my opinion, the most underrated style staple. You can make it whatever you want, chic, casual and even athletic. Here, I knotted it in the front to show off my vintage black leather belt (from my mother’s closet). The booties, ahh, the booties. I ordered these booties over the phone on a train in New York. My favorite boutique here in Columbia, Bohemian, posted an Instagram of them. I saw them, couldn’t stop thinking about them and needed them. The mustard yellow cross-body is the perfect pop of subtle color. The finishing touch of many of my outfits is any combination of the many gold necklaces I have. Here, I chose my refurbished key and the classic long gold pendant. Last but not least, a good watch will take you to amazing places. This black and gold one is so versatile and I can wear it with pretty much anything my mind comes up with.

I’m so thrilled to be a part of CollegeFashionista where I can combine writing and fashion, two of my favorite things. Thanks for reading (mom and dad) and I can’t wait to have a #RAD semester.
