STYLE GURU BIO: Nyla Fuller

Welcome to the New Year, Fashionista/os! I am back once again for another semester with CollegeFashionista, bringing to you the most stylish students of Ball State University. I am currently a junior studying public relations and fashion, and I’m the girl with the great winged eyeliner that showed up late to class (I’m kidding, I don’t do that). I am also a member of the sorority Alpha Gamma Delta and loving every minute of it!

I have always had a love for fashion as well as all things artsy and I have always seen myself with a future involving fashion but after I received Ready to Launch: The PR Couture Guide to Breaking into Fashion PR and #GIRLBOSS for Christmas, I have a whole new look on my career in fashion and I can take on this industry, guns blazing!

I have rarely been the girl that follows the trends. I do pay mind to what’s “in” and what’s not, but I do not go through the day wondering if anyone will notice that I’m carrying last season’s kate spade new york bag. I have always had trouble trying to define my style. Just think edgy-chic-rock star-hipster Fashionista, and you have my closet! You might find me in a black backless dress and a pair of beat-up Converse All-Stars on a good night, but I like to live by the quote that Tom Ford once said: “Dressing well is a form of good manners” , so if you ever see me in my sweats from high school, I must be having a rough day. My favorite trends for the winter seasons would have to be a tie between fur vests and oversized sweaters. I like to think that I was ahead of the trend when I wore a black fur vest my sophomore year of high school, but then a teacher asked if I skinned a bear before class and totally shot my confidence (back when my confidence could easily be shaken). Today I think that my weird style combinations is what makes fashion so much fun for me! I enjoy waking up early and getting all dressed up for class—yes, I’m that girl, but it’s just how I like to start my day!

Wow, it’s hard to believe that I have been a Style Guru for a year now! I hope that my current readers and new readers learn to love CollegeFashionista as much as I do. My articles will go live every Wednesday but while you are waiting each week for my posts, feel free to check out my older posts along with other Style Guru columns from around the country! Now let’s get this semester started, shall we?
