STYLE GURU BIO: Nivea Manuel

Hey y’all! I’m so excited to be back at CollegeFashionista for my second semester. I’m a Philly girl at heart, but am currently attending the University of Houston with a major in pre-Physical Therapy and a minor Air Force Leadership. This is my first semester living in my sorority house and I love how my sisters’ individual senses of style mean a huge diversification of my own closet. This being my first semester away from home, I’m eager to take a few style risks that I wouldn’t have before.

This summer, I discovered a few new style inspirations, especially Jean from Extra Petite and Haleigh from Making Magique. Jean’s preppy-casual, and modern-yet-stylish office outfits are a great resource as I start to build my own business wardrobe. If anything, it guarantees that there aren’t any skirt suits in my future. Haleigh offers a really whimsical look into her life in Paris, full of outfit inspirations I’d love to recreate for city outings. Trying to combine the two is going to be a little bit tricky, but finding your own style is nothing without a little experimentation (and a whole lot of mistakes)! I’m excited to spend this fall growing my own style, with an emphasis on dressing up the casual, laid back college look I’ve been sporting for the past two years in an effort to prepare myself for the world of internships.

This semester, I’m aiming for a daily outfit that’s heavy on the accessories with either a lot of layers, or some really bold statement pieces. I’m also stocking up on lipsticks, just to give my look that finishing touch. Since I am living on campus and won’t have to walk as much, I’m going to try out wearing heels to class for the first time, so fingers crossed it all goes well! I am transcending from comfort clothes to a more sophisticated/professional look. Through CollegeFashionista, I am looking forward to sharing my insight on fashion, as well as my transition into the corporate world.
