STYLE GURU BIO: Nike Brannstrom

Hello beautiful fashion lovers! My name is Nike (spelled like the sneaker brand, but pronounced “Neekay”). I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and moved to upstate New York ten years ago. I am currently a sophomore at Northeastern University, majoring in Music Industry and minoring in Business Administration. Music is my number one passion, but fashion is a close second.

I personally don’t have one particular style. My likes and inspirations within fashion are constantly evolving depending on my surroundings. Most importantly, I wear clothing that I feel good in! Fashion isn’t just the newest trend or runway item. It should express who you are and what you love. My wardrobe is a collection of clothing from my travels, friends, favorite stores and many more wonderful ventures. My favorite essentials right now are my oxfords (perfect for fall dresses) and my maroon Zara scarf. I also have a  leather jacket that I got when I was 16. It has been with me through my teenage angst phase, exploring Europe, missed flights/trains and many other adventures. I’m surprised I haven’t lost it yet.

Being a college student, I believe in affordability. I am always searching for new ways to save a few bucks here and there. I keep up on new trends and fashion, but I know that trends will come and go; on a budget, buying trends at high fashion brands aren’t worth it (in my opinion). My go to stores include H&M, Zara, Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. That’s where I find new clothes for reasonable prices that will flow in and out of style. To find unique clothing to balance it all out, I go to thrift stores! I have become an expert at digging through the massive piles of clothes to find that one special item worth all the trouble. That’s where you’ll find that luxury brand for way less. (College budget and labels…I ain’t got time for that). Some of my all time favorite things in my closet are vintage. I like walking down the street knowing that nobody else will have that cool jacket, skirt, etc.

This is my first semester as a Style Guru at College Fashionista and I am so excited! Northeastern University is filled with fashion-forward individuals and I look forward to sharing our styles with all of you guys. Stay tuned for more articles throughout the fall!
