STYLE GURU BIO: Nicolette Piccininni

Hello my people! My name is Nicolette Piccininni. I am so thrilled to be a part of CollegeFashionista! I’m looking forward to a semester filled with fashion inspiration and iconic pieces of clothing. But before moving any further, let me introduce myself.

I tend to go by “Nic.” I am 22 years old and I am currently finishing my last semester at Florida State University as an editing, writing and media major while minoring in communications. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, but I have spent most of my life growing up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have high hopes to return to the big apple after graduation. What do I want to do when I get there? That has been the question of the year for me. While I may not know at the moment, I feel pretty lucky to have that sense of uncertainty. We’re extremely fortunate to be growing up in a time where there is so much opportunity, and no dream really seems out of reach. But one thing I am certain about is my adoration for writing and fashion. Therefore, my ideal job right now would be to be emerged in anything that correlates the two.

I’ve been in love with writing for as long as I can remember. The idea that you can make anything possible with your words is a beautiful thing to me. As for fashion, that infatuation began in high school when I was given the opportunity to work with BCBGMAXAZRIA. From then on, the art of getting dressed was always my favorite form of self-expression. I think defining yourself is extremely important and I’m a firm believer that the art of language is power. And I think fashion is instant language. A person who knows how to use both can have anything they want.

I thought I already defined my own style, however it wasn’t until I spent this past summer in New York City interning at a public relations and styling firm that my style really flourished. I was intrigued to be in a city surrounded by people whose style was constantly evolving. As people inspired me, my look prospered. My closet is still very black and white. Literally. And I usually don’t stray too far away from neutrals either. As you can tell from my bio photos, I can never wear enough black. My outfit started with a pair of black Free People cropped jeans and a black Zara t-shirt. I added my favorite BLANKNYC leather vest with fur lining on top of that. Oh, and I live in my adidas, as my personalized Super-star sneakers are pictured above. Overall, I think simplicity is key.

Well, that’s enough about me! I can’t wait to encounter more fashion inspiration this season, and I’m even more excited to share it with you all. Keep up with me on the 15th of each month to follow my findings! Here’s to a semester of fabulous taste and beautiful people. Talk soon!
