STYLE GURU BIO: Nicole Griffin

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Nicole and I am a sophomore at Rutgers University studying Marketing and Supply Chain Management. This is my second semester as a Style Guru and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m especially excited to write about fall outfits and trends since it’s my absolute favorite season.

My love for fashion began as early as I can remember. As a young girl I would wait anxiously for my mom’s InStyle and People Style Watch magazines to come in the mail; when they finally did, I would study them cover to cover, making notes of the images I liked so I could cut them out and make a collage on my wall.

My outfits definitely depend on how I’m feeling that day. I love a floral dress but I’m also super into rocking slip-on sneakers, jeans and a simple top. Although I don’t have one particular style, my favorite trends are (and probably always will be) open back dresses and tops, lace-up sandals and flats and corduroy and suede button-up skirts. I have way so many backless tops, dresses and rompers that they are literally all I wear. Lace-up shoes are almost like leg jewelry—the lace-up/ankle strap parts are basically like statement anklets. Corduroy skirts have a classic look that will never go out of style.

As for career goals, I want to do something in the fashion industry (obviously). This summer, I interned for the luxury jewelry company Roberto Coin and the experience solidified my aspirations of wanting to work in fashion. In terms of long term goals, I want to work my way up to a VP/Directorial position in the Marketing and/or PR department of a major fashion company (honestly I would be happy anywhere).

So, Fashionistas and Fashionistos, stay tuned every month for my articles and Scarlet Knights, I’ll be keeping my eye out for you on campus!
