STYLE GURU BIO: Nicole Glickman

Hello, my name is Nicole. I am currently a sophomore studying Fashion Merchandising Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology. My interest in fashion came from growing up watching my father run his clothing manufacturing business. I always get asked if I plan to take over the “family business,” but that would just be too easy. I plan to continue working hard in order to make a name for myself.

Moving from South Florida to New York City, to pursue my dream of working in the fashion business industry, was the best decision that I’ve made to date. I love all of the culture that this city has to offer, and there’s no place I’d rather be! In my spare time you can find me attending local shows, watching films, eating pizza or scavenging thrift stores in search of vintage treasures. I always have a camera on hand to snap photos of my friends and the crazy things we get ourselves into in the city.

My personal style would best be described as rocker chic, but I do enjoy mixing it up. My perfect winter outfit consists of a good (faux) fur coat paired with a vintage band tee, skinny jeans and black booties. Lately, my go to gals for style inspiration include vintage babes Anita Pallenberg, Françoise Hardy and Pattie Boyd. I also am inspired on a daily basis by my stylish friends’ wardrobes. As a firm believer that fashion should be a fun way to express one’s state of mind, I think that the most important rule to follow is to dress for no one but yourself.

I can’t wait to write for CollegeFashionista this semester because it will give me the chance to show off the fashion-savvy students of FIT, and let me tell you I have seen some wicked good street style. I have my camera charged and ready, so let’s see what the Fashionistas and Fashionistos of New York have to offer! Make sure to check back with me every Wednesday!
