STYLE GURU BIO: Natalie Barr

Fellow Fashionistas! I’m very excited to be part of the CollegeFashionista team. I’m a sophomore at University of Alabama majoring in Apparel Textiles with a double concentration in Fashion Retailing and Fashion Design with a minor in business. I’ve been interested in fashion my whole life, but really didn’t know where it would take me. When I was little, I was obsessed with dress up and would ask for new Barbies or any other kind of doll just to get the new outfits that would come with them. I always fantasized that I would be famous and able to wear all the fashions and accessories I ever wanted. I never actually knew that this could be my career. After watching Laguna Beach and The Hills, I saw Lauren Conrad following her dreams to be in the fashion scene. That’s when I knew I would study fashion at the college I wanted to attend. Last semester, I began focusing on fashion design as another area to pursue. I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not, but I love it! I plan to open a boutique one day, so design and retailing are both very important to me.

Whether I’m keeping up with new trends by looking at different style magazines, websites or even window-shopping, I love seeing new things to try out and mix different styles and looks. I’m a big fan of going to all different stores to find clothes, so I don’t really have one place where I always shop. I love Urban Outfitters, Free People, TJ Maxx and so many others. Since the weather is always nice in Alabama, a few of the go-to pieces from my closet are crop tops, leggings and high-tops while pairing bracelets, rings, necklaces and watches.  Football is BIG at Alabama (Roll Tide Roll!), so tailgating and games are a huge part of campus life. I’m excited to show everyone that even after football is over, we still have amazing things happening around the campus. With it being my second year here, I’ve already seen the different looks sported around the campus and I can’t wait to share this with everyone else.

Make sure to check out my weekly articles on Mondays and see all the exciting fashions that fill this beautiful campus.
