STYLE GURU BIO: Natalie Bader

May 29th, 2015 at 2:00am

Hey there, fellow fashion lovers! My name is Natalie Bader, and I am extremely excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer! This fall, I will be a senior at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, and am majoring in Apparel and Textile Marketing with a minor in Business Administration. When I’m not busy with school, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and husband, and I also work part-time at the K-State Super Store. Go Cats!

My love and appreciation for fashion began at an early age. I remember flipping through fashion magazines, sketching fashion designs and hunting for vintage pieces in the second-hand clothing store in my hometown when I was ten years old. Throughout junior high and high school, I was the girl that dressed up everyday even though most of my classmates wore T-shirts and jeans on a daily basis.

I love how clothing can be used to reflect someone’s personality, interests and moods. One of my favorite things about walking on campus is getting to see all of the unique fashion styles of my fellow Wildcats. I would describe my own personal style as a mix between artsy and classic, and might swing wildly towards one or the other, depending on my mood. I love to follow the latest fashion trends, but prefer to put an unconventional spin on them.

Living in Kansas, one must learn to adjust to the bipolar weather conditions. This particular outfit is something you would think to see in the early fall or spring, but it is actually for a very chilly and rainy day in the middle of May. In order to stay a little warm, I paired a long-sleeved, black crop top with a dark floral skirt. To give this outfit a little edge, I wore my Target boots with some dark, scrunched up knee-high socks. I accessorized my look with my favorite stretch bracelets and safety pin earrings.

I can’t wait to start searching for the super stylish Fashionistas/os on my campus and sharing them with all of you! I am also pretty excited that I have an excuse to go up to random strangers and compliment them on their fabulous outfits.
