STYLE GURU BIO: Nashwa Bawuah

Hey! My name is Nashwa Bawuah (pronounced Nah-shwah Bow (as in bow your head)-ah). I’m in my second year of studying fashion design at Columbus College of Art and Design. Fashion is art and my favorite way to express myself. That is why I am so excited to work with CollegeFashionista! Fashion and beauty are my first loves but I also like to explore other mediums such as photography and jewelry making!

Fashion to me is more that just clothes; it’s art. There are so many different types of art just like there are so many styles of fashion. I do not have a certain style; I just like what I like and wear what I feel like. One day that could be a goth grunge look, all black with holes or a pretty light pink number. It all goes into what I’m inspired by at that time and what I feel like wearing. I also like vintage and older clothing so I love to go thrifting!

For this look most of my pieces are from the thrift store! The top that I am wearing started out at a plain black long sleeve shirt but then I DIY-ed it and bleached it and it came out so awesome! My velvet mini skirt is also from the thrift store. It is so versatile and comfortable! Now when it come to shoes I normally gravitate to more simple styles but I changed it up for this look. I’m wearing open toe shoes with a  lace-up detail. They have the same velvet texture as the skirt. To tie it all together I added a black cross body purse small enough to hold all the essentials.

I hope you enjoyed this look I put together! If you want to see more of my style and become friends follow me on all my social media!
