STYLE GURU BIO: Myriam Harvey

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Myriam Harvey. I am a junior enrolled at Oakton Community College. I’m majoring in nursing and biology. I am incredibly happy that this is my second semester being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista.

I think fashion is supposed to be fun and creative. Ever since I was a toddler I can remember always asking my mom to put bows in my hair and asking her to put her Estee Lauder lipstick on me. My mom has always let me experiment with fashion, sometimes I wish she would have told me to tone it down a bit, because I was that girl that wore pink cowgirl boots with a cheetah print skirt (let me remind you it was around the time The Cheetah Girls movie came out and cheetah print was fashionable.)

Luckily, I outgrew pink cowgirl boots and my signature style has changed. Right now my signature look is very classy I love blazers, dresses and I always wear a watch. Lately I have been experimenting a lot with fashion, because there are no rules when it comes to fashion. I’ve been wearing statement necklaces from Mirina Collections, Timberlands and a lot more black has been added to my everyday wardrobe. I love having fun with prints and different colors! I think you can wear floral prints throughout the year as well as sequin; you can never have too much sparkle to your outfit.

My motto for this semester comes from a kate spade quote, “She has a way with words, red lipstick and making an entrance.” I want my posts to get better and better this semester. I want to present myself in a sophisticated way, I also want my outfit to make a good impression the second I walk in room. That’s my favorite thing about fashion, your outfit can say a lot about you before you even say a word. I think you have to be confident to wear a lot of things! That’s why I love styling my friends, because seeing how their mood changes how they feel confident in an outfit and ready to take on the day, nothing can compare to that feeling.

Although I live in the suburbs, Chicago has my heart. There’s just something about the lights and walking down Chicago in a fabulous pair of high heels that makes me feel right at home. Being a nursing major I study a lot! But when I am not studying or working on one of my blogs, I am usually hanging out with friends! I love shopping and just going on random adventures, whether it’s going on a random road trip or just going down the street to get ice cream, I love those mini moments I get to spend with my friends. I am also a huge fan of going to concerts and music festivals, I just love the atmosphere. I’m excited to make this semester the best and most fashionable semester I’ve had yet!
