STYLE GURU BIO: Myhka McKinney

Hello CollegeFashionista community! I am so excited to be a Style Guru for fall 2016. I am currently a junior at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois and I am majoring in apparel merchandising and minoring in French and business administration. Writing is a passion of mine, specifically writing about fashion. I can’t wait to be able to share my own personal style with you, as well as, the styles of other college students just like you.

If you’re anything like me, your closet is filled with a ton of neutrals. This featured look is simple, yet chic and easy to put together. This black chiffon shirt is paired with a light beige wrap-styled skirt. Then, I accessorized with a black felt choker, gold body chain tucked into the skirt and a light beige purse with a gold clasp. The olive green lace-up booties were added as a final touch to bring the look together. A trendy style tip is wrap the booties’ shoelaces around your ankles once or twice before tying the bow.

This classic look is multi-functional and perfect for various summer occasions. Whether you’re going out with friends or going for a stroll around downtown, this outfit is the perfect mix of casual and dressy. The lighter beige colors are perfect to transition from summer to fall, and brighten up the overall ensemble. When it comes to accessorizing, I love mixing chokers with simple chains as an easy way to add a little something extra to any look.

Even better, this look is easily attainable and affordable. With pieces from some of my favorite fashion brands, such as Forever 21, Hollister Co. and Windsor, anyone can create this style and add their own personal touches to make it unique. Neutral pieces are essentials in my wardrobe because they’re easy to mix and match with other pieces, and can be used during multiple seasons.

For makeup and hair, stick with subtlety. The up-do I chose was wavy curls loosely pinned back on either side of my face. My beauty look entails a natural contour, nude smokey eyes with a liquid liner wing, a nude lip and soft highlight.

This look is a perfect representation of my personal style. I am obsessed with neutrals, necklaces and booties. I love the effortlessly classy chic, yet simple look! It’s no surprise then that my fashion icon is none other than the beautiful Kendall Jenner. I hope to one day have as big of an influence on the fashion world as she has.
