STYLE GURU BIO: Miranda Holizna

Hey fashion enthusiasts! My name is Miranda and I’m a sophomore studying innovation and entrepreneurship at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. I hail from the one and only Cleveland, Ohio and if you ask anyone who knows me they’ll tell you I have a passionate and unyielding love for my hometown stronger than Kanye’s love for Kanye.

As cheesy as it sounds, my personal style is something I’ve always taken immense pride in. While attending a high school with no uniform but a strict dress code, I developed a fashion sense I would classify as timeless. Whether I’m rocking a button-down, skirt and Jack Rodgers or a Cavaliers jersey with ripped jeans and converse, the outfits I put together make up who I am and where I’m from.

George Washington is unique in the sense that students are very rarely seen wearing sweatpants and T-shirts. Even during finals everyone continues looking fabulous. The student body definitely embodies the saying: look good feel good. The student body is made up of over 50 countries and so many different styles are represented in Foggy Bottom, from southern chic to modern Japanese looks.

During my time at GWU my style has evolved into slightly more edgy. I have discovered the beauty of black and the timeless look it brings. While it’s a different timeless than a Ralph Lauren button-down, the purpose remains the same. I use fashion to describe who I am and where I want to end up, and I would advise you all to do the same. Never lose sight of who you are.
