STYLE GURU BIO: Mikayla Dent

Hello, sweet Fashionistas!

I am so happy to be back for my third semester as a Style Guru; time sure has flown by. Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself! I’m Mikayla, a junior at the University of Kentucky, where I study merchandising, apparel, and textiles as well as integrated strategic communications. My plan at the moment is to graduate spring of 2017 and open my own boutique (but my plans change often so check in with me later for updates). There is nothing I love more than helping people put together an outfit that makes them feel absolutely confident! I am passionate about good food, good friends, and great shopping. If I’m ever lost, all of my friends know that there’s no need to call emergency because I’ve more than likely slipped downtown to wonder around local boutique stores. My love of fashion began the first time I slipped into my mama’s high heels as a baby and has only grown stronger since.

I have a very distinct style that usually consists of mostly classic pieces’ paired with one piece that truly stands out, something a little unexpected. My winter go-to look consists of a well fitted pair of jeans, a cozy sweater with fun details, and a long necklace or a big blanket scarf topped with a leather jacket and finished Tory Burch riding boots or heeled booties. For my look featured in the photos I kept it simple with an all black base that included black jeans and a cashmere sweater paired with my go-to black booties; to complete the look I threw on a white faux fur vest and long necklace. I love outfits with clean lines that look polished. This semester, I will have my eyes open for more confident and style-conscious girls around campus.
