STYLE GURU BIO: Michelle Vazquez

They say all good things must come to an end. Well, my end is getting closer and closer, unfortunately.

As a Style Guru at California State University, Long Beach, I was fortunate enough to start this journey during the spring semester of 2016. I still remember the university’s career center sending out information about potential internships. Once I read the word “fashion,” it was a no-brainer that it would be the one I chose.

I started scoping out the website and social media sites. I was definitely intimidated. All I saw were pictures of glamorous girls dressed to the nines and wondering if it was the right choice to join or not. I say this because I’m very casual and minimalistic with my outfits as you can tell from my articles. Whether it’s a plain T-shirt or ankle boots, I won’t complain! Then I began to look more and realized that this website really represents what fashion is in reality: versatility.

In the world of high-fashion, you have the one’s who dress very pristine like Karl Lagerfeld or Anna Wintour. On the other hand, you have those who dress very simple and plain like Alexander Wang or Raf Simons. Do their styles vary? You bet. Do their individual careers and talents show their personality? Definitely.

And that’s what I got and keep getting from all the talented individuals who contribute to CollegeFashionista. We are all different and that’s what makes this such a refreshing, rewarding and real experience.

I am beyond excited to see what trends will be hitting the streets this summer. And I definitely hope you join me on this cruise!
